Flying More Enjoyable – Travel Tips
Flying could be a drag especially some passengers who travel by plane are not considerate. You are dreading the rest of the flight. To make flying more comfortable, recommended tips are:
- To equalize the pressure in your ear – try swallowing, yawing, sucking on a sweet or chewing gum. If you are traveling with kids, bring sweets or a pacifier for them to suck on to help them “clear” their ears, especially during take-off and descent
- To stay hydrated - avoid caffeinated and alcohol drinks since air in airplane is extremely dry. Instead of that, drink water and juice regularly with approximately at least 240 ml or one cup per hour of flight when you travel
- To have sufficient stretch and flex – stretch your legs regularly during your travel such as take a short leisure walk every hour or so. It could help to avoid swelling, pain at the back of your leg, below the knee; which is known as Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT). Studies suggest prolonged inactivity as a cause of DVT- the formation of blood clots in deep veins (usually in the legs)
- To counter jet-lag - sleep as much as possible for flying from west to east To stay awake as much as possible for flying from east to west.
- To wear glasses instead of contact lenses – glasses will not make eyes dry
